About Us: What We Offer
The Beechwood School is a state licensed facility that provides traditional Preschool and Kindergarten school year programs, as well as optional full-day child care coverage. In the summer we offer a camp environment for both full-day and part-time children.
1. Hours of Operation
Hours during the regular school year are from 7:45am - 5:00pm, Monday - Friday. Tuition is based on the child’s enrollment schedule. All children must register for 5 days per week but may have a mixed schedule of half and full days:
9:00am - 11:30am
9:00am - 1:00pm
7:45am - 5:00pmSummer camp opens at 8:00am - 5:00pm, Monday through Thursday. The Beechwood School is closed on Fridays in the summer.
2. Preschool Program
The Beechwood School offers a Preschool/ Pre-kindergarten program beginning with children who are 2½ years old by the September they would attend. All enrolled students are required to be fully potty trained. Each class has a 6-9 month range of ages and is supervised by a teacher and an assistant. The curriculum is based on seasons, holidays and readiness skills appropriate for their age. The teachers write weekly lesson plans that incorporate the curriculum, yet keep in mind the needs of their students.
3. Kindergarten Program
A certified kindergarten program is available for 5 & 6 year olds. Our small class offers a high concentration in reading and math. The curriculum also includes writing skills through the "whole language" experience. We have found that our kindergarten graduates excel in first grade. Acceptance into kindergarten is based on a screening by the director, teacher recommendation, and age. Beechwood School pre-kindergarten students receive priority.
4. Summer Camp
This program also offers the child a chance to enjoy the classroom experience. Although the teachers follow a curriculum, this session is more flexible and more outdoor oriented than the school year session.
The Beechwood School Summer Camp is open Monday - Thursday for both full-day and half-day sessions from the end of June through the middle of August.
